L' Attitude

Bien ! FORCE et POUVOIR !!! UTILISEZ LA ET APPRECIEZ-LA !

My definition of self confidence

Have you tried to google self confidence? The number of books/sites on the subject are unlimited. Personally I have read quite extensively on the subject...............how to build self confidence, 10 ways to instantly build self confidence etc etc.
I cannot really say what effect each of these articles/books have had on me. I certainly learned a couple of things out of each of them. I choose to expand my definition by taking a simple example.
I was playing monopoly for the second time of my whole life, the game started very badly for me. The first card I picked sent me to jail. The first few moves sent me back there again. In the meantime, the others were busy making money. I said to myself that I was done as all the most valuable properties were sold. I said to the others that no matter the bad start I still would have a reason to stay at the table, being the banker. I then landed on one of the train stations which I bought. On reading the title deed I quickly saw the potential. I luckily was able to buy a second station, then a third one and then bought the fourth one from another player and here I was making good bucks. While others were concentrating on buying land, I saw a niche and all the others were paying £200 for landing on one of my stations.
This was a practical course in what self confidence was all about. It meant that often things do not in the first place appear to be the way we want them to be, there are bad experiences, unforeseen circumstances. We cannot predict the future, we do not have the answers to all problems, we have not faced all possible experiences. Self confidence is about trusting ourselves and trusting life. Its about trusting out abilities, to be certain that whatever problems/ circumstances thrown to us, we would if need be go down within ourselves but will have what it takes to face it.
I am happy to be in a position to accept the above definition but I must say that the road to reaching such a conclusion has been long. I mean I have so many times (and I still do and will continue doing so) expose myself, so many times go beyond that comfort zone. The more you expand your comfort zone the more self confident you become. There is still a long way to go, its an endless fight but I believe that when you start trusting yourself, then you've come a long way already.
Tomorrow I resume work, I am back to the real life, I have identified what the 2011 challenges were. No doubt that others will crop up. I am standing tall ready to face whatever comes my way, i'll find the force to face it.
I came accross this quote, I really like it:-
Promise yourself, no matter how difficult the problem life throws at you, that you will try as hard as you can to help yourself. You acknowledge that sometimes your efforts to help yourself may not result in success, as often being properly rewarded is not in your control.

The first day

In 2011, I want to be "The one" with the good experiences, the one envied by others. No more dreaming, I want to live a dream life rather.
31 December 2010.......................................A romantic dinner at "Beer and Spices". Nat and I, dimmed lights, soft background music.............hmmmm. From where we sat we had a stunning view of the lights of the Caudan Waterfront which is on the opposite side. Every now and then the sound of distant firecrackers or fireworks illuminating the dark sky reminded us that it was New Year's eve.

After dinner we set off with the idea of spending sometime at Metropolis, a new resto-bar in Ebene. It was launched a couple of weeks ago. Its a very nice place, well situated. It might well be the next hot spot, watch out! It was unfortunately closed. You see, most mauritians still spend New Year's eve within their families. The plan is normally to have drinks around a barbeque. Its after the firecrakers at midnight that people leave their places and drive to night clubs. As for us we wanted to be different, we were on the road when the night was still young.

01 Jan 2011..............We headed west to Shots at Flic en Flac. This is a hot spot! However as I said earlier if you reach there too early you might just get discouraged. We got there around 11pm30 probably a couple of hours too early. A few people were having drinks at the bar. We sat down, ordered some drinks which we sipped until the midnight fireworks. It was so nice. Most night clubs in Mauritius are free, no entry fee. They make their money on drinks and snacks. But they wont let in just anyone. If you are with your girlfriend and well put, then no worries. No worries either if you are a chick. However if you are a guy its a different story. Guys are allowed only if they come with chicks.

Guys, after midnight the place started to fill up. Beautiful people. Just what I like. Around 1am30 the DJ put the place on fire. Not an space on the dancefloor. Waow! What a way to welcome the new year! When we left the sun was rising.
We splept until 10 am or so. We then met with the family at Ocean Restaurant for lunch. Nice time there although it was very hot and the food was not great. Well it was a set menu for Rs 400 + VAT per person, what could one has expected in any way?? In any case we were having lunch on the first day of the year with people we love and basically this was the most important thing to me. After lunch we had a quick swim in the warm waters of Flic en Flac, probably the nicest beach on the island.
In the afternoon, had dinner at my in law's place. A usual cool experience.
I do not have the feeling of having overdone anything...............moderate drinking, moderate eating.....................un nouvel an bien entame quoi!
Bonne annee a tous!
